Description
This was a portrait done off a reference picture I've gotten from my client. It's interesting what the text on the reference says about this particular picture:
THE KILLER CAMEL
Fifty feet above the Somme River, time ran out on the life of Baron Manfred von Richthofen, Germany's greatest ace. Behind his red Fokker was Captain Roy Brown in a British-built Sopwith Camel. The Canadian was low on ammunition but began firing as soon as he was within range--and the treacherous Camel, the supreme Allied dogfighter of World War I, claimed another victim.
*From a painting in the LEACH CORPORATION HERITAGE OF THE AIR COLLECTION* 1959
It was a challenge drawing a full size portrait like this on a subject other then horse, I felt challenged and I think I completed it well. I think in the future there will be more technical drawings such as cars and bikes as well. I think it will give me a lot of practice in my pencil drawings.
